Reduced-rate counselling services

There are a range of counselling services in the area available at a reduced rate.

If you need help for a mental health crisis or emergency

Get advice from 111 or ask for an urgent GP appointment if you need urgent help for your mental health.

​

Get help from 111 online or call 111 and select the mental health option. 111 will tell you the right place to get help. You may be able to speak to a trained mental health professional over the phone.​​

Counselling-on-Sea
  • Student counsellors undergoing training.

  • Therapy from £15 a session.

  • Mid-priced service at £40 a session, with counsellors qualified within the last two years

Abacus
Open Adult Counselling Service
  • No set fee, but they ask for a weekly donation (agreed by both parties)

MIND - South east and Central Essex

Counselling can help if you are experiencing:

  • Anxiety issues and Generalised Anxiety Disorder

  • Depression

  • Confidence and Self-Esteem issues

  • Bereavement

  • Pre, Peri and Post-natal depression

  • Anger management issues

  • Phobias

  • Relationship problems (Please note we do not offer couples counselling)

  • Work-related Stress

  • Issues linked to identifying as LGBTQ+

  • A clinically-diagnosed mental health condition such as Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia and Personality Disorders.

  • Self-harm

  • Recovery from substance misuse issues

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

  • Eating Disorders

 

 

 

 

If you are 18+ you can self-refer to MIND's counselling services without having to go through your GP first.

 

They offer subsidised rates of £30 for online/telephone sessions and £40 for in-person sessions.
